In this course you’ll learn to:
• choose the right hook for your yarn.
• hold the hook and yarn.
• make a chain, slip stitch, double and treble crochet stitches.
• make a traditional granny square.
• join granny squares.
• as well as understand basic crochet instructions.
Overview:
First you’ll learn how to hold the crochet hook and yarn whilst practicing chain stitch, slip stitch and the double crochet stitch. By the end of the first session you’ll have created your very own unique crochet sample using these stitches!
Next we’ll teach some alternative stitches: half treble and treble crochet. And because you'll have already learnt to hold the hook you’ll pick these new stitches up much quickly.
Finally, in the last section of our class, you’ll create your first project by making your first granny square coaster. As you do so, you’ll learn some abbreviations used for crochet instructions and symbols used in basic crochet charts.
Joining several granny squares means you can go away and make cushion covers, bags, scarves and throws: anything that is based on a square or rectangle!
